How we work
The rules we hold ourselves to, in plain words.
The world desk
- Headlines come from the public feeds that newsrooms publish for exactly this purpose. We show the headline, a short snippet, the newsroom's name and the time, and we link to the original.
- We never copy the body of an article. If you want the story, the link takes you to the newsroom that reported it.
- Desks are refreshed about every thirty minutes. A story can drop off the page as newer ones arrive.
- We do not alter headlines, apart from trimming very long ones.
Newsroom posts
- Every post is written in plain language and lists the sources it rests on, with links.
- Primary sources come first: official statements, court documents, company filings, statistics offices and the newsroom that broke the story.
- Opinion is labelled as opinion. Most of what we publish is explanation, not opinion.
- Our newsroom uses software, including AI tools, to gather and draft; a person reviews every post before it is published.
Corrections
Mistakes get fixed in the post itself, with a dated note at the bottom saying what changed. Serious errors are also flagged at the top. Send corrections to [email protected].
Advertising
When advertising runs on this site it will appear on newsroom posts only, clearly separated from the text. Advertisers never see a post before publication and never influence what we cover.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no comments, no newsletter sign-up forms, no tracking pixels from social networks.
- No sponsored posts presented as news.
- No automatic rewriting of other newsrooms' reporting.
